BackAlley Community Theatre makes it’s home in the garden patio area behind the Hicks and Richardson Building in Historic Grand Cane, Louisiana. In this unique setting within antique brick walls that afford wonderful acoustics, actors and theatre patrons join for an evening of fun.
The success of the first season was brought about by hours of work by many volunteers to take this bright idea to a full fledged performance theatre.
This group was started during the Summer of 2001 with three productions of live theatre: "Love, Sex and the IRS" a comedy about trying to avoid paying taxes, "Murder In the Magnolias" a who-dunnit spoof with all the usual Southern characters, and " Chapter Two" , a Neil Simon comedy about starting over after divorce.
BackAlley Community Theatre Offers a Venue for Other Gatherings
During the Historic Grand Cane Association’s Christmas Tour of Homes, local musicians and singers entertained tour ticket holders. The Annual Christmas Pageant, a tradition in Grand Cane, found a new home in 2001 on the stage of BackAlley Community Theatre.
